Pick up is from your hostel or most convenient location at around 3:00am. We then take private transport through the southern valley of Cusco to the town of Chilca where we have breakfast. It’s important to note that the weather at this point is most likely to be cold. After breakfast we continue by organised transportation to the next town to start trekking.
8:00am – We head to the top of rainbow mountain, named Vinicunca in Quechua. We head through grassland and meet some Alpacas and Llamas. We will also get to see farmers who still wear their traditional outfits.
9:00am – We climb a short hill, where you can see the sacred mountains of Ausangate.
10:00am – Around this time we arrive at the mystical rainbow mountain, which is around 6,384 meters above sea level. We recommend consulting with your doctor prior to ensure your body can handle such altitude safely.
11:00am – Time to return to camp for lunch.
Two hours after we’ll head back to Cusco.
